After the expulsion from the imperial city of Augsburg in 1438/40, Jews were not allowed to settle in the city for almost 400 years. Jewish life in the region developed in the countryside during this period. In Kriegshaber – at that time a village under Habsburg rule – an important rural Jewish community emerged.

The guided tour sheds light on the development of Jewish life in the rural areas from the early modern period until its destruction during the Nazi era. At the same time, it provides an insight into the history of the Former Kriegshaber Synagogue and explains the interior furnishings that still exist.
