FAQ

  • When planning your visit to the museum and synagogue, please allow time for security checks and note that neither large backpacks, suitcases nor duffel bags are permitted inside.

  • Both locations are currently not fully barrier-free accessible. We are working on providing barrier-free access in the future.

  • At the City Center location, photography in the permanent exhibition is permitted for private use only (but without tripods, flashes or selfie sticks). Photography in the courtyard, foyer, and worship space is prohibited for security reasons.

Professional photography and filming is possible in consultation with the museum and the Jewish Community of Swabia-Augsburg. Please contact the public relations department at 0821-51 36 26 or 0151-64 93 62 21 or send an e-mail to presse@jmaugsburg.de.

  • The Jewish Museum Augsburg Swabia was founded in 1985 as the first Jewish museum in Germany to be supported by a foundation. The museum has two locations.

At the Innenstadt location, you can visit the permanent exhibition with various interventions and installations on Jewish festivals, as well as the impressive synagogue, which is over 100 years old and still in use today.

At the location Former Kriegshaber Synagogue you can expect the oldest preserved synagogue in Bavarian Swabia as well as temporary exhibitions.
