OBITUARY FOR NIKOLA DAVID

The Jewish Museum Augsburg Swabia is deeply saddened by the death of Nikola David, who was taken from life on 2 August 2024. With his death, the Jewish Museum Augsburg Swabia has lost a long-standing friend and partner.

The gifted cantor not only enriched countless exhibition openings and events with his singing. His enthusiasm for liturgical and secular Jewish music has been passed on to the audience time and time again. For instance, the choir project ‘Hear Israel!’, which took place at the museum in 2015 under Nikola David’s direction, was not a one-off event. His knowledge of synagogue music, his warm-heartedness and his enthusiasm made the choir an integral part of the museum’s location in the Former Kriegshaber Synagogue until the Covid-19 pandemic put an end to the monthly rehearsals.

Nikola David’s warmth, his open ear for our ideas and the projects we were able to realise together will not be forgotten at the museum. Our thoughts are with his family and friends.
