A Conference on Urban Minority Cultures in the
Non-Metropolitan Cities of Europe

March 17-19, 2024

The memory cultures of ethnic, religious and national minorities differ from those of the majority society, as they have their own traumas, heroes and narratives. The conference will focus on the participation of minorities in various forms of public memory culture in small and medium-sized European cities. It is not a given that minority memories are represented in the public space of their cities. Both academics and representatives of various minorities, including from Augsburg, Wrocław and Lviv, will talk about the causes and consequences.

The conference is open to the public and will be held in German and English.
Registration is required to attend the various panels at empfang@jmaugsburg.de.

The panel discussion on March 17 at 7:30 p.m. will be held in German and can be attended without registration.
