Discover objects online

The internet portal bavarikon provides online access to numerous testimonies of Jewish life in Bavarian Swabia.

A very special project was realized over two years: Over a thousand objects from the museum collection and from the former Jewish rural communities of Bavarian Swabia were recorded, digitized and described. These include architectural remains, ritual objects, manuscripts, printed works and everyday objects.

The time frame ranges from the founding of the first Jewish rural communities in the 1560s to the Second World War. Virtual exhibitions and biographies of selected personalities provide additional details.

All objects of the project »The Jewish Heritage of Bavarian Swabia. Culture and everyday life of rural Jewry 1560-1945« can be found online at www.bavarikon.de.

Please note that not all texts are available in English.
