Ceremony in the Great Synagogue
under the patronage of Minister President Dr. Markus Söder
Forty years ago in autumn, the Jewish Museum Augsburg Swabia opened its doors to visitors as one of the first Jewish museums in the Federal Republic of Germany. Since then, it has become an established part of cultural life in Augsburg and Swabia, making an important contribution to an open and democratic society with exhibitions, educational programmes and events at two locations.
On 29 October, we will celebrate this with a festive ceremony in the Great Synagogue. We will not only look back on 40 years of museum work with and for our urban community, but also look to the future with a panel discussion on the social role of Jewish museums.
