With the “Museum on the Road” project, the Jewish Museum goes out into the city

Perhaps you’ve already spotted us over the past few weeks. Once again this year, the Jewish Museum Augsburg Swabia is on the move throughout the city during the summer months with »Museum on the Road«! Our cargo bike serves as a compact exhibition space for rotating pop-up exhibits: A display case is built into the front section. Thanks to this mobile platform, we can visit different locations throughout Augsburg. Our goal is to bring the museum out into the community, engage with people, and make historical content and Jewish themes accessible beyond the museum’s walls.

In early July, we’ll be presenting a special collaborative project with Augsburg’s Kapellen Mittelschule (secondary school). Students in grades 9 and 10 have been studying in depth the life of contemporary witness Ernst Grube, who survived the Shoah as a child. The project began with a personal conversation with him. The students then reflected on their impressions and translated them into creative works, which they will now present to the public as part of »Museum on the Road« on July 7 and 8.

On other dates, the theme of peace will be the focus—in connection with the current special exhibition at the Former Kriegshaber Synagogue. Various symbols of peace will be introduced through a quiz. Of course, you can also win a prize.

Come by and visit the »Museum on the Road«!
